One chilly November day, I received a phone call that my daughter’s portraits were ready to be picked up at the local discount portrait studio. Being a single mother at the time, my daughter was the apple of my eye and for the upcoming Christmas season I decided to have her portraits done and give out framed pictures of my daughter for presents. Barely getting by financially most days, I strived to provide as best I could for my two year old.

We bundled up, got in the car and head out to retrieve the awaiting package. I had exactly sixty dollars left in my bank account to last me until payday. The pictures were going to cost me forty of that sixty dollars, that didn’t leave much for the rest of the week.
