MULTIPLE UPDATES ON - POLICE CHASE UFO OVER CARDIFF - UFO
Police helicopter crew gives chase to a UFO after it almost collides! It was reported that the chopper was packed with hi-tech cameras and surveillance gear, but the UFO somehow avoided being caught on film.

The police Eurocopter, an EC135T21, was hovering
in the sky at 1240BST above the base, waiting to land
when suddenly.......
UK - June 20, 2008: 2:35AM BST
The pilot was forced to bank sharply to avoid being hit by the mystery aircraft as the helicopter was returning to the Ministry of Defense base of St Athan, near Cardiff.
The three crew, who described the UFO as 'flying saucer-shaped', then gave chase, getting as far as the North Devon coast before they ran low on fuel, it was reported.
The police aircraft was hovering at 500ft and waiting clearance to land on June 7, when those onboard spotted the other craft hurtling towards them from below.
A spokesman for South Wales Police said: "We can confirm the Air Support Unit sighted an unusual aircraft. This was reported to the relevant authorities for their investigation."
It was reported that the aircraft closed in at great speed, aiming straight for the helicopter which swerved sharply.
"They are convinced it was a UFO. It sounds far-fetched, but they know what they saw."
The helicopter crew are said to have crossed the Bristol channel in pursuit of the UFO, but lost sight of it and had to turn back due to a fuel shortage.
The sighting comes weeks after the most comprehensive Government files on UFO activity are opened to the public for the first time today and they disclose that even air traffic controllers and police officers have seen mysterious craft in the skies over Britain.
The sightings range from incredible tales of little green men visiting the Wirral to corroborated accounts from policemen and pilots of Unidentified Flying Objects hovering above towns and cities.
All were recorded on official forms, held by air bases and police stations, and compiled by the Ministry of Defense between 1978 and 2002.

Police: Don't panic over UFO sighting
South Wales Police Control Room Inspector Ann Johnson confirmed the air support unit had spotted an unusual aircraft.
“This was reported to the relevant authority,” she said.
But she added: “In today’s skies, there are a large number of aircraft which come in a range of different shapes and sizes and in all probability, this sighting has just confirmed that one of these was in the area at the time.”
But Terry Phillips, a neighborhood watch coordinator, who contacted 101 about the sighting, said there was no doubt in his mind that the sighting was an alien from another world.
“I have seen strange things in the sky over the years,” said the 64-year-old, from Pontcanna, Cardiff.
“The government will always says it’s a load of nonsense or that it was a balloon. But I think it was something following them – something not from this planet.”
MoD community relations officer for Wales, Peter Sinclair, said he was baffled by the incident.
“Nobody from the MoD was at the base at the time it happened,” he said.
“We couldn’t find any information about it. I would really like to know the truth of the story.”

UPDATE ON UK UFO INCIDENT IN CARDIFF FROM NICK POPE
This is one of the most interesting UFO sightings in recent years and I’ll be investigating this incident. Whatever one believes about UFOs, this illustrates that the phenomenon raises serious defense and flight safety issues. The Ministry of Defense and the Civil Aviation Authority [the UK equivalent of the FAA] need to make urgent enquiries into this incident. As ever, radar data may hold the key to this matter.”
As you can see, Nick Pope is taking this incident very seriously and you can rest assured he’ll get to the bottom of it in no time at all. We are all fortunate to have such a dedicated professional like Nick who was a skeptic at first and then having headed the MOD’s division regarding UFO investigation came to the conclusion there was something more than just reports. Nick has written and lectured on the subject for years now with the candor and eloquence the public is rare to find in this field.
The news of this close encounter of a dangerous kind is now hitting the news services. I personally sent the story to Matt Drudge. Let’s see if Matt posts it on his super popular site.
I have to agree with Nick however that this was a dangerous incident. Those officers aboard that helicopter could have been injured or killed by that craft. It’s bad enough police officers have enough danger on the ground but in the skies is adding greater worry.

UPDATE ON UK UFO INCIDENT IN CARDIFF FROM JOE McGONAGLE
From: Joe McGonagle
Subject: Re: Police Helicopter Chases UFO
Gary Anthony, Dave Clarke, and myself (Joe McGonagle) are onto this already.
The MoD UFO department have told me that they have no knowledge of this event, though I inquired about the date provided in the newspaper article (7th June).
Dave Clarke has spoken to the Police and they informed him that the event took place on 8th June at 00:40. They also told him that they did not attempt to pursue the object and that it was not saucer-shaped but shaped like an aircraft.
Dave has already been asked to participate in radio programs for BBC Wales and the British Forces Broadcasting Service!
The Police would not say who they reported the incident to, just "the appropriate authorities". We suspect that this will definitely include the Civil Aviation Authority, and either Counter-Terrorism and UK Operations or the flying complaints section of the Provost and Security Squadron of the Royal Air Force.

UPDATE ON UK UFO INCIDENT IN CARDIFF
UFO Spotted by Police Helicopter
Cardiff International Airport said air traffic control provided a service to the police helicopter to ensure it had appropriate air space, including allowing it space to return to RAF St Athan to refuel.
Author Richard Foxhall who lives in the Nantlle Valley, Gwynedd has written a book about his experience of seeing a UFO in 1996.
Mr Foxhall has called for the report into the Vale of Glamorgan sighting to be made open to the public.
"The helicopter crew, who are experienced, saw something which was in the air space around Cardiff International Airport and St Athan's air base.
"It this was Heathrow - there would be an inquiry," he added.
Mr Foxhall said he saw a low flying object over Tal-y-Mignedd in Snowdonia over the May bank holiday weekend, 12 years ago.
He was returning home at around 2030 and saw an object similar to "nothing he had seen before".
Mr Foxhall contacted all local airports, RAF Valley and checked
with the authorities and found no flight records had been logged.
