UPON A SIMULATED FIELD OF DREAMS - Part Two

Some Musings Through The Looking Glass of Ufology

INTANGIBLE MATERIALITY
By, Bruce Duensing

"These inner realities can have virtually infinite domains, unlimited by current or past concepts of languages, of logics, of mathematics, of philosophies, of beliefs, or of metabeliefs previously learned-experienced...'
-John C Lilly

"The Way that can be experienced is not true;
The world that can be constructed is not true.
The Way manifests all that happens and may happen;
The world represents all that exists and may exist.

To experience without intention is to sense the world;
To experience with intention is to anticipate the world.
These two experiences are indistinguishable;
Their construction differs but their effect is the same.

Beyond the gate of experience flows the Way,
Which is ever greater and more subtle than the world."
-Lao Tze

The 1950 film, Rashomon begins in distant 12th century Japan, and while it's subject matter does not include the contemporary field of the paranormal, it does serve as a metaphor in the psychology of experiential anomalous reality in relation to the observer, who in turn serves secondarily as a witness to what is eventually investigated in hindsight, as an anecdotal event. A samurai and his wife are attacked by the notorious bandit Tajomaru, and the samurai is murdered. Tajomaru is captured shortly afterward and consequently, is put on trial, but his own account of the event and that of the the wife's are so completely different that a psychic is brought in a desperate attempt to allow the murdered man to provide his own presumably more accurate testimony, who, then reveals yet another completely different story in contradiction to the previous contradictions found in the ones already recorded. Finally,the fourth witness comes forward, a woodcutter who had found the body of the samurai reveals that he saw the entire event, and his unique version is yet again, completely different from the previous three versions of the same murder. Perhaps in relation to the field of Ufology , we could call this disparity between the differing accounts, all of which visualize same phenomenon in a dizzying spectrum of variations within variations,as the Rashomon Effect, which correlates by it's behavior, to a quantum effect.
