HOLLOW MOON THEORY RINGS A BELL - Micah A. Hanks

COULD EARTH'S MOON BE AN ALIEN SATELLITE?
BY MICAH A. HANKS

When it comes to colonization of space, physicist Michio Kaku supposes that distant civilizations may begin by sending out robotic probes, possibly as small as what we describe as nanotechnology, which would travel to moons orbiting life-bound planets in the universe. There, these small probes might self-replicate, some remaining on the moon in question and observing planetary life nearby, others leaving and heading further onward, repeating the process of replication and mapping the universe as they travel. A friend and I were discussing this the other day when I suggested, “let’s take that one step further. If advanced civilizations really wanted to observe us and keep it on the down-low, then what if, instead of sending probes to various planet-orbiting-satellites, the moons themselves were the probes?”

This would take into account one of Clark’s laws, which basically stated that any sufficiently advanced technology viewed by a lesser advanced civilization would be indistinguishable from “magic”. Similarly, I often wonder if advanced civilizations might be capable of creating technology so advanced that it could basically function like organic matter, or perhaps even a living organism. Our closest notion of this right now is artificial intelligence, which most people still tend to associate with robotics. But what if alien civilizations (who we might assume already wield some advanced ability to modify genetics, based on the various available abduction literature) could create what appeared to be biological organisms which function as “drones” and the like, and yet appear to us as completely organic?
