COULD EARTH'S MOON BE AN ALIEN SATELLITE?

When it comes to
colonization of space, physicist Michio Kaku supposes that distant
civilizations may begin by sending out robotic probes, possibly as small as
what we describe as nanotechnology, which would travel to moons orbiting
life-bound planets in the universe. There, these small probes might
self-replicate, some remaining on the moon in question and observing planetary
life nearby, others leaving and heading further onward, repeating the process
of replication and mapping the universe as they travel. A friend and I were
discussing this the other day when I suggested, “let’s take that one step
further. If advanced civilizations really wanted to observe us and keep it on
the down-low, then what if, instead of sending probes to various
planet-orbiting-satellites, the moons
themselves were the probes?”
