THROUGH A MIRROR: THE REALMS OF THE DEAD - INTANGIBLE MATERIALITY
SPECULATIONS UPON A PARALLEL UNIVERSE
INTANGIBLE
MATERIALITY
BY BRUCE DUENSING

"The question ariseth: How
did creatura originate? Created beings came to pass, not creatura: since
created being is the very quality of the pleroma, as much as non-creation which
is the eternal death.
In all times and places is creation, in all times and places is death.
The pleroma hath all, distinctiveness and non-distinctiveness.Distinctiveness
is creatura. It is distinct. Distinctivness is its essence. And therefore it
distinguisheth. Wherefore also he distinguished qualities of the pleroma which
are not. He distinguisheth them out of
his own nature. Therefore he must speak of qualities of the pleroma
which are not."
-The Seven Sermons to the Dead
In the traditional world view of the paranormal, there are more questions than
answers. Ghost hunters relentlessly seek their quarry, while Ufologists scan
the skies and Cryptozoologists look for cracks in the Darwinian axioms. All of
these facets of the paranormal converge in childhood in the form of dreams, or
perhaps what shadow lurks beneath one's bed. A suspicion that normality in of
itself may be paranormal when one contrasts what we know against what we do
not. The ultimate mystery is what we term death and this piece takes an
unusual, perhaps paranormal view, that the realm of the dead in relation to that
we consider the living, may be far stranger than our myths illustrate.
My own
experiences lend a certain subjective credence to a parallel universe and this;
dear reader is a quick look under the bed before we comfort ourselves or that
others may comfort us before we go back to sleep....perhaps what we find is a
riddle faceted by a hypercube. The interdimensional intersection of these
experiential realities would appear to us as an anomaly in terms of our
orientation, while we, as observers of this phenomenon may occupy more than one
state while entangled within what appears to be a dream. Again, we apply the
utility of a metaphor.
