UFO archive release: The best pictures on file (at least they got in)
Telegraph - UK
By Matthew Moore
The archive of "Close Encounters" released by the Ministry of Defence contains thousands of A4 pages of dry official paperwork... and a handful of science fiction gems.
Here we present a selection of the most striking, perplexing and entertaining drawings and eyewitness testimonies submitted by member of the public.
If you have the faintest clue what they might mean, or have your own UFO story, then share your thoughts in the comment box at the bottom.
1) Amazon, the planet of warrior women

These sketches were sent by a woman claiming to be an alien in March 1990. She said her spaceship came down in Britain during the Second World War and was recovered by the military. "The crashed vehicle contained two males from Spectra, a planet orbiting the star Zeta Tucanae, and a female from one of the two inhabited planets in the Sirius system, Amazon the planet of warrior women. That female was me," she wrote.
The correspondent helpfully included a sketch of herself, looking regal in a flowing gown, and a Spectran with "oriental features, no hair and 'Mr Spock' ears".

The writer went on: "Whilst my body lay in the UFO I was taken into the Spectra computer. That was a strange experience."

"The parents of my present body were chosen in 1940. They saw a rocket-shaped UFO trailing a blue flame, and experienced a strange stillness. Although Spectra rule me they will not tell me why I am here."
2) Telemetry

In June 1986 a man wrote to complain that a transistor had been implanted in his body. "I am subjected to mysterious happenings which can only occur with the use of an electromagnetic device," he wrote, enclosing this drawing. "By using high technological equipment I have been deliberately introduced to form of radio communication by which I am able to receive messages.”
3) Feathered serpents of Peru

Curious flying creatures - a genetic mix of birds, snakes and humans - want to land in the UK, according to this letter sent by a member of the public in April 1988.
"They are the legendary 'Feathered Serpents' last heard of in prehistory in Inca Peru," according to the writer, who claims to be in telepathic contact with them. "Please find a telepath who can send and receive as I can. I’ve been on ‘duty’ for four years already and I need a rest. I would reckon that my phobia about snakes is getting in the way of my continuing with them. I can’t control the shakes."
They add: "Please hurry as they are becoming impatient to touch down... You should behave as if they are a visiting royal party as they were treated by the Incas. Don’t go over the top please. Don’t destroy the peaceful work I have done for you."
4) Kite without a string

The object was spotted flying above the A12 in Colchester in August 1988. The correspondent wrote that it appeared to have an internal light source.
5) Fairground above Plymouth

6) UFO sighting - Nov 2 1987

7) UFO sighting - March 24 1988
